Charron Dean, director of Camp Bay Breeze, came to talk to the girls about the needs of the camp. The troop is interested in helping out the camp as part of their Bronze Award service project.

The girls have started on their Journey. Tonight we talked about our Powers and created a Rope Poster that talks about the things we would like to learn during this Journey. The girls have been given instructions on how to create a Herstory Trading Card. Cards should be brought to the next meeting to share.

We will work on the Petcare badge this evening. They will talk about good pets vs. bad pets, figure out the cost of a pet, and learn about their nutritional needs. There will be a little take home work...they need to care for a pet for one week. Please help your daughter complete this. I am talking with Prince Frederick Animal Hospital about a guest speaker. One of the vets would come to the meeting and talk about being a vet and the diseases that might affect our pets.

The girls worked in their patrols to come up with badges that they are interested in. We also talked about up coming events that they would like to attend. Reminder: No meeting next week.

The girls will meet for the first 30 minutes. During that time the leader will introduce the patrol system to the girls. They will break into their patrols and come up with a name and mascot. Our project for the evening will be decorating bags to carry their books in. While the girls are working on their bags the leader will meet with the parents to discuss their Junior year. We will go over paperwork and what will be expected from the girls and their parents.
We had a wonderful first meeting. The girls have been broken down into their patrols and already working well in their groups. I will create a tab for each of the patrols with their name, members and their assigned jobs. They will use this section to put any news or information out there for you to see. Next week we will work in our patrols to discover the badge book and find out what badges interest us.

The girls worked on their Journey for the first part of the meeting. We talked about animal energy and how we can use that energy. Thanks to Makenzie's mom for bringing them a craft activity to work on during the parent meeting.

"We are going to make paper out of paper" was heard several times last night as we started work on our Journey. The girls talked about "energy" snacks and how a plant uses the sunlight for its "energy". We also talked about "packaging material" and how much waste is created by our families in one week. The fun began we the blender was pulled out to make paper. Ask them how it was made.
